Sabino is 61 years old and retired last November. He joined GANAIN in 2014 after many years working in the naval sector. He started at just 16, learning the trade from the ground up, and has never stopped working with his hands. He repaired ships, assembled structures, and witnessed the evolution of industrial work from the inside.
At Ganain, he quickly adapted to an environment different from what he was used to—more technical and precise, but just as demanding. He brings experience, calmness, and the kind of knowledge that only comes with time.
“Here the work is more technical. You have to be precise, and I like that. It forces you to stay focused and do things well.”
Since then, he has taken part in assembling production lines for the automotive sector and special projects such as stabilizers for cruise ships weighing over 22 tons. These are complex jobs, where everything has to fit perfectly, and where Sabino has proven he is still someone you can rely on.
“I don’t rush anymore, but I do things safely. Whatever I do, I try to do it well.”
How did you arrive at GANAIN?
I joined in 2014. I had finished another job, and this opportunity came up. I didn’t know anyone, but they welcomed me from day one. At first, it was a bit hard to get used to the rhythm, but soon I was fully involved.
What has this stage in the company been like?
Very good. It’s different from what I did before in the naval sector, but the atmosphere is good and the work is well organized. I like the way things are done here. You know what you have to do, and everyone focuses on their tasks but helps when needed.
What kind of work do you do or have you done?
Mainly assembly work. I’ve worked on automotive production lines, special machinery… We also made huge stabilizers for cruise ships, weighing more than 20 tons. Those projects leave a mark because they’re a challenge. Seeing everything come together is very satisfying.
What part of the job do you enjoy the most?
Assembling parts, seeing everything fit well. I like when you’re working on a big project and you see that days or weeks of work are coming together nicely. Also, the atmosphere with my colleagues, which makes the days go by better.
What do you think you contribute to your coworkers?
Experience. I like to do things calmly and properly. I’m not much of a talker, but if someone needs a hand, I’m there. I try to make things a bit easier for the ones who come after me.
How do you imagine your life after retirement?
With time for myself and my family. I have a small piece of land, a garden… I enjoy that. I also have young grandchildren, and I want to spend more time with them. I don’t see myself completely still—I’ll keep doing things, but at a different pace.
What would you like people at Ganain to say about you?
That I did my job well, that I was responsible and a good colleague. I don’t need anything more. If I leave a good memory, that’s enough for me.
From Ganain, we want to thank Sabino for these years of commitment, professionalism, and dedication. His way of working has left a mark on many projects and on those who have shared the workshop with him.
We wish him a happy and well-deserved retirement.
